Powder (Kaempferia galanga L.) is one type of empon-empon/tanaman drug belonging to the tribe-finding meeting (Zingiberaceae). Rhizomes or rhizome of this plant contain essential oils and alkaloids are used as stimulants. Another name is cekur (Malaysia) and pro hom (Thailand). In the international literature (English) often occurs chaos by calling kencur as lesser galangal (Alpinia officinarum) and zedoary (Intersection of white), which is actually a distinct species and not a substitute spices. There is also a close relative kencur commonly grown in home gardens as a medicinal plant, meeting Rapet (K. rotunda Jacq.), But is easily distinguished from its leaves.
Kencur name borrowed from Sanskrit, kachora, कचोर, which means white Intersection (Curcuma zedoaria).
Some kinds of properties of kencur are as follows:
- Treat gastroenteritis. Way, take kencur by 2 fingers, peel and wash clean. Chew with salt then swallow. Do it 3 times a day.
